Description
The Lyngdorf BW-2 is a subwoofer designed to complement a hi-fi installation without imposing a large visual footprint. Its dimensions have been designed to allow discreet integration into a listening room, whilst ensuring low-frequency reproduction consistent with the rest of the system.
The 25.4 cm long-throw woofer (±15 mm excursion) uses an anodised aluminium cone paired with a 50 mm voice coil and a 2.4 kg vented magnet. This architecture aims for precise bass reproduction, with a frequency response extending down to 25 Hz and a sensitivity of 91 dB (2.83 V / 1 m). Depending on the connection mode, the frequency response ranges from 25 to 200 Hz on line input, or from 25 to 800 Hz on bypass input, allowing use as a wide-band subwoofer.
The BW-2 features several adjustments on the rear panel: a bypass switch, a phase control (0 to -180°), a level control, and a crossover frequency adjustable between 60 and 200 Hz. An auto on / always on mode allows the unit's standby to be managed.
Paired with a Lyngdorf TDAI 2170 integrated amplifier, the BW-2 can be selected directly during system configuration, alongside MH2 speakers. In this configuration, the subwoofer operates in wide-band mode with a crossover frequency fixed at 800 Hz. Room acoustic analysis, carried out in around ten minutes using the microphone supplied with the amplifier, allows the system to measure the characteristics of the listening environment.
This subwoofer is aimed at users equipped with, or looking to acquire, a Lyngdorf TDAI 2170 amplifier, seeking a carefully considered integration between electronics and speakers, particularly in rooms where space must remain limited.

What to check before buying used
The ±15 mm excursion places significant strain on the woofer's suspension: check for any tearing or abnormal stiffness around the anodised aluminium cone. The 2.4 kg vented magnet places a substantial weight on the rear chassis, which should be checked for any signs of detachment or play. Also test each of the rear panel adjustments (bypass, phase, level, crossover frequency) as well as the auto on / always on mode, as the switches and potentiometers may become oxidised over time.
