The Magnat RD 200-THX belongs to the Cinema Ultra range and is positioned as an effects speaker dedicated to the surround channels of a home cinema setup. Its dipole structure aims to reproduce a diffuse rather than localised sound field, matching the expected use of rear channels in a multichannel system.
The speaker combines a 17-centimetre woofer/midrange driver with two 42 mm tweeter domes, placed on the angled sides of the cabinet on either side of the main driver. In line with THX guidelines, these two tweeters are wired with reversed polarity, producing a partial sound cancellation at a specific listening point and thereby favouring a diffuse, spatial rendering rather than a directional one. Thanks to a wide-bandwidth dome, this dipole operation begins at 1,500 Hertz.
