Description
The Magnat Sub 300-THX is an active subwoofer designed for home cinema, distinguished by THX Ultra 2 certification even though its format remains particularly compact for this label. It reinforces the bass register of an audio or video system, complementing the main speakers.
The 32 cm woofer fitted has been optimised to offer a high excursion while limiting distortion. To extend reproduction towards the lowest frequencies, two passive radiators of the same dimensions and style support the main woofer, allowing the subwoofer to reach down to 18 Hz. The whole unit is driven by a 550-watt Class D output stage, a compact and efficient amplification architecture.

Test the operation of the two passive radiators, meant to support the 32 cm woofer: a loose or squeaking radiator compromises the entire stated frequency extension. Also check the Class D (550 W) amplification stage by listening for several minutes at moderate volume, watching out for hiss, thermal cut-out or an unwarranted protection trigger. Finally, inspect the 45 mm MDF cabinet: dents, chipped veneer or cracks at the corners indicate careless transport or use.
