Marantz CD-50n

The Marantz CD-50n is a digital audio player that combines several functions in a single unit: CD player, digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) USB and network player. It allows you to play compact discs, connect a computer to make use of its conversion capabilities, or access audio content via the local network, without the need for multiple source devices.

Its frequency response extends from 2 Hz to 20 kHz, with a dynamic range of 100 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio of 112 dB, harmonic distortion of just 0.000016 % and channel separation of 116 dB: these figures reflect precise reproduction, with very low background noise and little added colouration to the original signal. Via USB, the DAC accepts files up to 384 kHz and DSD up to 11.2 MHz, while via DLNA network playback goes up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD 5.6 MHz, covering most Hi-Res formats available via streaming or stored files. It also features an aluminium chassis and HDAM and HDAM SA2 amplification modules, with a dedicated feedback circuit for headphone amplification.

Thanks to the HEOS ecosystem, the unit can access streaming services, web radio stations and DLNA-shared tracks on the home network; it is also compatible with AirPlay 2, Bluetooth reception and Amazon Alexa. Its connectivity includes an HDMI ARC input, allowing it to be connected to a television, as well as optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs, a USB-B input, fixed and variable RCA outputs, and a front-panel headphone output.
