Marantz CD60

The Marantz CD 60 is a stereo CD player intended for playing compact discs, designed to accurately reproduce the contents of a CD collection. It belongs to Marantz's hi-fi range and stands as a natural partner for the brand's amplifiers, notably the MODEL 40n and the MODEL 30, with which it shares a common aesthetic.

The heart of the CD 60 lies in the proprietary HDAM circuit, revised compared to previous generations: its components are arranged symmetrically on the audio board to shorten the signal path. The power supply has also been reworked, with high-speed, high-current Schottky barrier diodes, high-capacity storage capacitors, and improved voltage regulators. These oversized capacitors are designed to stabilise current flow and limit noise during demanding listening sessions.

In terms of performance, the CD 60 delivers a frequency response of 2 Hz to 20 kHz in CD playback, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 118 dB and total harmonic distortion of 0.0015%. It also features a USB input accepting DSD and 24-bit PCM streams, with frequency responses extending up to 50 kHz and signal-to-noise ratios of up to 118 dB in 24-bit PCM. The line output level reaches 2.2 Vrms, and the headphone output delivers 28 mW into 32 ohms.

This player is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts who still own a substantial CD collection and wish to get the best out of it, within a classic stereo setup combining player, amplifier and speakers. Its connectivity, comprising a stereo RCA output, an optical output, a digital coaxial output and a headphone output, allows it to integrate equally well into an analogue chain or a digital system.
