Description
The Marantz PM6007 is a stereo integrated amplifier designed to equip a two-channel Hi-Fi system. It combines power amplification, a digital-to-analogue converter and a phono preamplifier in a single unit, allowing analogue and digital sources as well as a turntable to be connected without any additional electronics.
The unit delivers a power output of 45 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms (20 Hz - 20 kHz), thanks to a toroidal power transformer paired with custom capacitor blocks. This type of transformer, more efficient than an EI-core model of equivalent size, reduces electromagnetic radiation and mechanical vibration, which limits interference in the audio signal. On an integrated amplifier of this generation, the cleanliness of the volume and source selector potentiometers is worth checking by ear, as crackling when moved is the classic sign that cleaning is needed.
