Description
The Cadence is a soundbar from MartinLogan designed to pair with flat-screen televisions of 50 inches and above. Its elongated, discreet format allows for tabletop or wall mounting, without encroaching on the visual space around the television.
The unit features nine full-range speakers, each paired with its own amplification channel, for a combined total power of 135 Watts (270 Watts peak). This multichannel architecture delivers surround sound without resorting to separate speakers placed around the room. Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround decoding processes multichannel soundtracks from video sources, while the Anthem Room Correction (ARC) function, supplied with a calibration microphone, adjusts the sound rendering according to the room's acoustics. Frequency response extends from 65 to 20,000 Hz.
On the connectivity side, the Cadence offers three HDMI 2.0a inputs compatible with HDCP 2.2 for 4K/60 sources, an HDMI input/output supporting Audio Return Channel (ARC), as well as an optical digital input and an RCA analogue input. It can also drive an external subwoofer via a built-in wireless transmitter, compatible with the SWT-SB model. Wireless music streaming is provided by built-in Bluetooth, DTS Play-Fi certification and Apple AirPlay, allowing multi-room playback from different sources.
This model is aimed at those who want to significantly improve the sound of a large-format television without installing a traditional home cinema system with multiple speakers. 4K HDMI compatibility and multiple streaming options make it a suitable solution for a living room where aesthetics and simplicity of installation matter as much as sound quality.

What to check before buying used
Test each HDMI input individually: a faulty 4K/60 HDCP 2.2 port may go unnoticed if the seller has only tried one source. Also check that all nine full-range speakers work without crackling or a muted channel, a sign of a failing amplification stage. Make sure the Anthem Room Correction calibration microphone is included, as without it the ARC function remains unusable. Finally, inspect the wireless subwoofer transmitter: unstable pairing is a common fault on this type of soundbar.
