Martin Logan EFX

The EFX is a floorstanding speaker from Martin Logan, designed for wall mounting thanks to its particularly slim depth of 6.5 inches, or 16.5 cm. Despite this compact format, it relies on genuine electrostatic panel technology, drawing on the brand's expertise in this field.

The EFX's electrostatic panel measures 71 cm high by 22 cm wide. Its curvilinear shape draws on the XSat CLS architecture used on Martin Logan's higher-end models. It is built around an AirFrame frame combining aluminium and composite material, designed to remain unobtrusive while offering good structural rigidity. The very thin MicroPerf grilles are intended to limit their impact on the acoustic transparency of the panel.

The polymer diaphragm of the panel is coated, at atomic scale, with a conductive layer applied via a plasma process under an argon/oxygen atmosphere, a treatment intended to ensure uniform conductivity across the entire surface.

This electrostatic panel is paired with a built-in subwoofer, which houses a 16.5 cm woofer with a woven-fibre diaphragm. This enclosure also contains the power supply required for the electrostatic panel to operate, as well as a crossover system built from selected components: audiophile-grade metal film capacitor, high-purity air-core coils and an E-I type transformer built to a specific specification.

With its hybrid design, the EFX is aimed at an enthusiast wishing to enjoy the characteristic sound of a Martin Logan electrostatic panel without the space constraints of the brand's traditional models, in a setup where visual discretion and wall mounting are desired.
