Martin Logan Foundation Dynamo 10

The Foundation Dynamo 10 is a compact active subwoofer designed by MartinLogan to complement a stereo or home cinema installation. It houses its own amplifier and signal processing, allowing it to operate independently once connected to a source or an AV receiver.

Its Magnitude MT-400 amplifier delivers 400 W peak for 200 W RMS, a power reserve that allows the subwoofer to maintain control over the bass even as volume increases. This operation is governed by a high-resolution DSP processor, clocked at 200 MHz and processing the signal in 56-bit, tasked with precisely managing the reproduction of low frequencies. The 25.4 cm long-throw driver uses an ultra-rigid polypropylene (URP) cone, developed specifically for this model, mounted on a stamped steel chassis; the whole is housed in a sealed MDF enclosure with a reinforced baffle, a construction intended to limit unwanted vibrations. The stated frequency response spans 25 to 200 Hz (± 3 dB, anechoic measurement via the LFE input).

In terms of connectivity, the Dynamo Foundation 10 offers an LFE input for home cinema configurations as well as stereo RCA inputs (left / right line) for other uses. A WSK-1 wireless kit, sold separately, removes the need for cabling between the amplifier and the subwoofer, making it easier to position within the room. Available settings cover volume, crossover frequency, power mode and phase, allowing the subwoofer's integration to be fine-tuned to the room's acoustics and the main speakers.
