Description
The SWT-X is a wireless transmission kit designed by MartinLogan to link an amplifier or a source to an amplified subwoofer, without cables to run through walls, under carpets or along skirting boards. It consists of a transmitter and a receiver that communicate via digital radio frequency, a solution designed for installations where the optimal placement of the subwoofer conflicts with cabling constraints.
The kit operates on the 2.4 GHz wireless band with a resolution and sampling rate of 16-bit/48 kHz, and offers a wireless range of up to 40 feet (approximately 12 metres). Each unit, both transmitter and receiver, comes with its own mains adapter.
The SWT-X is not limited to MartinLogan subwoofers: it is compatible with any brand of amplified subwoofer with mono or stereo RCA inputs, making it a universal solution for adding wireless capability to an existing setup. Note that the Dynamo 1000w and Dynamo 700w models already integrate the transmitter directly into the subwoofer and are supplied with only the SWT-X receiver.
This kit is aimed at users who wish to place their subwoofer in the acoustically most favourable spot in the room without worrying about cable length or visibility, particularly in home cinema setups or living rooms where cable runs are constrained or unsightly.
What to check before buying used
The 2.4 GHz RF link can be disrupted by surrounding Wi-Fi or other wireless devices: it is best to check that the transmitter and receiver sync without dropouts or interference before purchase. Also check that both original mains adapters are present, as they are essential to the operation of each unit, and test the actual range, which may decrease with the age of the electronic components.
