Description
The McIntosh MPC1500 EU is a mains power filter designed to protect and improve the electrical supply of a high-fidelity audio system. Designed to be placed between the wall socket and hi-fi equipment, it aims to limit the electrical disturbances generated by the modern domestic environment, where numerous electronic devices inject noise onto the mains network.
Its operation relies on total galvanic isolation combined with a substantial toroidal transformer. The latter acts as a low-pass filter, capable of blocking some of the interference circulating on the mains line before it reaches the connected equipment. A protective electronic circuit completes this system: it triggers automatically as soon as the voltage exceeds the mains peak voltage by 2 V, which helps protect the system in the event of a surge.
