Description
Achieving optimal sound reproduction at home is often a challenge, as most rooms are not designed for audio playback. This frequently leads to endless acoustic adjustments, constantly moving speakers around, or even rearranging furniture, at the risk of not pleasing other household members. Rather than spending time on this trial and error, the MQ112 environmental equaliser allows you to take control of the sound and focus on listening.
The MQ112 is built around an 8-band stereo analogue equaliser, which allows the signal to be boosted or attenuated across 8 frequency zones spread between 25 Hz and 10 kHz, with an adjustment range of ± 12 dB per band. This function allows the sound to be shaped precisely and the level of certain instruments or vocal tones to be corrected according to listening needs.
The unit features both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, which simplifies its integration into a stereo system: it is installed between the preamplifier and the power amplifier(s), regardless of the type of connection chosen on either side. The type of input used does not need to match that of the output, a preamplifier or another device with volume control, such as certain CD players, can be connected via the unbalanced inputs, while the connection to the power amplifier(s) is made in balanced mode. The MQ112 can also be used with an integrated amplifier, provided the latter has removable jumpers allowing the preamplifier stage to be separated from the power stage.
In terms of aesthetics, the MQ112 features the visual hallmarks characteristic of McIntosh: black glass front panel, rotary controls, backlit logo, and custom-machined aluminium end caps, made from high-end materials. At the rear, the Power Control ports allow the unit to be connected to other components from the brand for synchronised power on and off with the rest of the system.
