Description
The Bassocontinuo Ghironda 2.1 is a high-end hi-fi rack designed to house the components of an audio system, from sources to amplifiers. It is available from 2 to 5 levels, allowing the unit to be adapted to the number of devices to be installed and to the future evolution of the system.
Its modular structure in solid stainless steel is built on independent 30 mm thick shelves. The spacing between two shelves, or between the floor and the first shelf, is adjustable from 95 to 330 mm, allowing precise adjustment of the available height according to the size of each device, whether a bulky turntable or a slim player. The adjustable spikes and tie rods make levelling the unit easier, while decoupling relies on elastomer washers placed under each shelf and a DSD system beneath the unit, designed to limit the transmission of vibrations to the devices placed on it.
Each shelf offers two usable positions of 500 x 500 mm, while the top shelf has a usable surface of 1140 x 560 mm, matching the overall footprint of the unit. Load capacity reaches 150 kg for the bottom shelf and 120 kg for the others, allowing the installation of heavy items such as power amplifiers or massive turntables.
This rack is aimed at enthusiasts of demanding hi-fi installations, wishing to organise several devices on a stable and modular support rather than a standard piece of furniture. What to check before buying used
The stainless steel chassis and 30 mm shelves hold up well over time, but you should check for any deep scratches or signs of corrosion on the visible surfaces and connecting tie rods. Check that all adjustable spikes are present and functional, with no damaged threads, and that the elastomer decoupling washers under each shelf have not hardened or lost their elasticity with age. Finally, make sure the DSD system beneath the unit is complete and properly fitted, an element that is sometimes missing on units that have changed owners several times.
