Description
The Lyra XL4 2.1 is a modular hifi rack designed and manufactured in Italy, intended to hold the components of a hifi system across several levels. Its structure comprises four shelves whose spacing can be adjusted by means of a system of metal spacers, allowing shelves to be added, removed or repositioned according to the needs of the installation.
The height between shelves can be set to five possible values: 90, 140, 190, 240 or 290 mm, allowing the rack to be adapted to the size of each unit, whether a slim player or a bulkier amplifier. Each shelf, 25 mm thick, offers a usable surface of 565 x 560 mm and supports up to 70 kg, while the top shelf makes use of the full width of the rack with 660 x 560 mm available. Decoupling is applied at two levels: under each shelf, via a red PU elastomer washer 90 sh placed between the feet and the shelf, and under the rack itself, by means of spiked discs decoupled with SBR rubber. This double isolation is intended to limit the transmission of vibrations between the floor and the equipment placed on each level.
The 2.1 version introduces a redesigned clamping system to reduce mechanical play in the structure, while remaining compatible with earlier Classic Line racks: owners of a previous model can therefore add or mix 2.1 version shelves onto their existing rack.
This type of rack is aimed at hifi enthusiasts wishing to organise several sources and amplifiers on a single unit, while seeking to limit mechanical vibrations that could affect sound quality. Its modularity also makes it a suitable solution for an installation intended to evolve, with the gradual addition of equipment.

What to check before buying used
With this type of modular rack, attention should focus mainly on the PU elastomer washers under the shelves: an older unit may show compression or hardening that affects the decoupling. Also check the condition of the metal spacers and their threading, which govern the height adjustment, as well as the flatness of the shelves after repeated disassembly. The spiked discs decoupled with SBR rubber under the rack are also worth checking, as this rubber can crack over time.
