The Orbe is a high-end turntable from Michell, designed as a direct extension of the technical solutions developed for the GyroDec. It is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts seeking an analogue source capable of delivering a high level of detail while maintaining good tonal neutrality.
The massive platter has a thickness of 60 mm: this considerable mass helps damp mechanical vibrations and contributes to playback stability. The turntable also rests on two separate levels of isolation, an architecture designed to limit the transmission of external vibrations through to the cartridge. The power supply and motor assembly has likewise received particular attention, in keeping with the technical choices made on the brand's other models.

What to check before buying used
The sub-chassis suspension deserves a visual check: the springs should remain symmetrically aligned, with no sagging or rubbing noise when the platter is touched. Check that the 60 mm platter turns without any stiff spots or rumbling noise, which would indicate a worn bearing or motor spindle, and that the belt is neither stretched nor cracked. The power supply-motor unit should start up cleanly and stabilise its speed without drift or audible hum.
