Description
The Revolv is a belt-driven turntable designed by Michell, positioned between the brand's TecnoDec model and the fully suspended Gyro. It is aimed at those who wish to enter the world of high-end vinyl playback without turning to a more complex suspended architecture that requires careful setup.
The solid aerospace-grade aluminium chassis, precision-machined and 19 mm thick, provides a rigid base with no mechanical suspension, favouring direct grounding of the system. The Delrin platter is paired with 10 mm brass peripheral masses, which increases rotational inertia and contributes to speed stability during playback.
The motor unit is one of this turntable's distinctive features: entirely independent of the chassis, it is connected to the turntable only by the drive belt. This physical separation limits the transmission of vibrations generated by the motor to the tonearm and cartridge. The motor unit and its power supply are themselves machined from solid aluminium, earthed and connected by a shielded cable, in order to reduce radio-frequency interference. The power supply includes electronic speed selection.
The tonearm is mounted on a precision-machined aluminium plate, ensuring a rigid connection between the tonearm and the chassis. Isolation from external vibrations is provided by Sorbothane feet, each featuring six damping nodes.
This turntable suits a vinyl enthusiast seeking a stable and upgradeable mechanical base, capable of accommodating different tonearms over time thanks to its architecture designed to last. It is intended for a hi-fi system built up gradually, where the turntable remains the foundation onto which a tonearm and cartridge are subsequently added.

What to check before buying used
The belt deserves a visual check: elasticity and the absence of cracks determine speed stability, a property that the brass peripheral masses cannot compensate for if it has become stretched. Also check that the motor unit remains properly decoupled from the chassis, with no contact or vibration transmitted from the base, and that the Sorbothane feet have not hardened or lost their elasticity with age, which would degrade vibration isolation. An inspection of the Delrin platter is also advisable, looking for marks or deformation on its contact surface with the record.
