The 778CDT is a dedicated CD transport, compact, functional and digitally optimised, designed for pure signal transmission and seamless system integration.

The Mission 778X marked the brand's return to integrated amplification after more than thirty years' absence: a compact and powerful amplifier that redefined expectations in its price category. Building on this foundation, the 778CDT applies the same philosophy to CD playback: a focused design, uncompromising engineering and music at the forefront. Housed in the same elegant half-width compact design and the same striking retro shape that made the 778X a modern classic, the 778CDT completes the 778 series as a dedicated CD transport, a digital device designed for audio purity and seamless system integration.

At the heart of the 778CDT is a bespoke CD transport mechanism fitted with a precision servo system, designed to ensure stable disc rotation, accurate tracking and robust error correction. A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) serves as the master clock, significantly reducing jitter and providing a clean, stable SPDIF signal to the downstream digital-to-analogue converter (DAC).

True to Mission's engineering philosophy, the design avoids unnecessary complexity. The essential circuit functions (transport, laser, decoder and master clock) are powered by dedicated low-noise power supplies, minimising interference and preserving signal integrity throughout the playback chain.

The result is a digital signal faithful to the source, allowing connected digital-to-analogue converters to perform at their best.

Digital output is provided via coaxial and optical SPDIF interfaces, ensuring direct compatibility with the 778X's internal digital-to-analogue converter or any high-quality external digital-to-analogue converter system.

Besides disc playback, the 778CDT also supports music playback from a USB hard drive, expanding its role as a versatile digital player. High-resolution audio files stored on USB devices (FLAC, WAV, MP3, WMA and APE among others) benefit from the same clock precision and low-noise architecture as CDs, ensuring optimal performance across physical and local digital media.
