Description
The Mission MX-4 is a floorstanding speaker belonging to the manufacturer's MX range, positioned just above the MX-3 in the series hierarchy. The surrounds of both 16 cm drivers deserve close inspection: hardened, cracked or sagging foam or rubber would affect the bass response quoted down to 44 Hz and would call for reconditioning. The tweeter, positioned below the woofer-midrange driver in this configuration, should be checked by ear to rule out any crackling or loss of definition in the treble. The cabinet's sides and top, along with the condition of the veneer or finish, often reveal damp storage or handling knocks on a speaker of this size.
