The Silver 100 7G is a two-way bookshelf speaker from Monitor Audio, designed for stereo listening or integration into a home cinema system. Its compact MDF cabinet houses an architecture intended to reproduce both intimate musical passages and more dynamic tracks.
The 25 mm gold-dome tweeter in C-CAM, an aluminium and magnesium alloy coated with ceramic, is paired with a neodymium magnet and a venting system for treble reproduction. The 20 cm midrange-woofer, also in C-CAM, provides controlled damping for clear midrange. The bass-reflex loading, with a rear port tuned to 42 Hz, completes the bass extension. What to check before buying used
On the Silver 7G, check the rubber surround of the 20 cm woofer: a cracked or detached suspension indicates damp storage and degrades bass performance. Also inspect the C-CAM tweeter dome, which is very sensitive to dents and fingermarks, as well as the MDF cabinetwork around the rear bass-reflex port, often marked by handling. Finally, listen to both units separately to rule out any crackling linked to a worn driver.
