The Mordaunt-Short Alumni 2 is a compact two-way satellite speaker, designed to take up little space while ensuring a refined sound reproduction. What to check before buying used
The aluminium cone of the woofer-midrange scratches or deforms easily with the slightest impact: a close visual inspection is essential before purchase. Also check the condition of the surround and the bass-reflex port, as sagging or cracking affects bass performance. The cabinet deserves a check of the corners and the veneer, which are prone to chipping on this compact format, along with a test at moderate volume to rule out any unwanted noise or tweeter distortion.
