Description
The Music Hall MMF-11.3 is an audiophile belt-driven turntable, offering two playback speeds. It stands out for its architecture built around four separate plinths, designed to isolate each sensitive component of the sound reproduction chain individually.
The tonearm sits on the top plinth, whilst the main bearing, of the inverted ceramic type, is mounted on a second, independent plinth. This separation allows the 1 1/2 inch thick acrylic platter to rotate freely, partially recessed within its structure. Moving the main bearing onto this second plinth is intended to improve cartridge tracking and reduce background noise. The magnetically levitated adjustable feet, microprocessor speed control, motors, flywheel and wiring are, in turn, grouped together on the bottom plinth. The latter acts as a mass-loaded resonance sink for the entire platter assembly. Sorbothane hemispheres separate each of the three main plinths, providing additional vibration damping at each interface. Two motors combined with a flywheel reinforce torque and rotational speed stability.

The inverted ceramic bearing and the Sorbothane hemispheres between the plinths should also be examined, as their deterioration would compromise the vibration isolation specific to this architecture. Finally, it is recommended to check the adjustment of the magnetically levitated feet and the levelness of the acrylic platter after transport.
