Musical Fidelity M1 PWR

The M1 PWR is a stereo power amplifier from Musical Fidelity, designed to deliver high power in a compact format. It is a unit dedicated solely to amplification, intended to be paired with a preamplifier or a source fitted with a line-level output.

To achieve such power within a reduced chassis, Musical Fidelity opted for digital Class A/D technology of the Ipex type. This architecture delivers 2 x 65 Watts in stereo operation, while maintaining a limited footprint compared with power amplifiers of equivalent output using conventional topology.

A small selector switch located on the rear of the unit allows the M1 PWR to be switched into mono mode. In this configuration, the available power peaks at 1 x 100 Watts on a single channel, opening the way to bi-amping or multi-amping setups by combining several units.

In terms of measured performance, harmonic distortion remains very low: 0.02% in mono mode and 0.03% in stereo mode. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches a minimum of 94 dB, a level that guarantees a clean background even at high volume.

This compact format and stereo/mono switching capability make the M1 PWR suited to setups where one wishes to gain power without adding bulk, or to progressively build a multi-amping installation by adding units over time.
