The Musical Fidelity M8xTT is a high-end belt-drive turntable, hand-built in Europe. It follows the design philosophy of the M1 range, combining the inert mass of metal alloys with non-resonant acrylic, with a motor decoupled from the tonearm and platter thanks to a dual-chassis construction.
The 10 kg aluminium sandwich platter, fitted with additional inserts and a TPE damping layer across its two stages, enhances the flywheel effect for more stable rotation. It rests on an inverted ceramic ball bearing, while the motor, isolated on a special foam within the acrylic plinth, drives the platter via a silicone belt with electronic speed control allowing switching between 33 and 45 rpm. The stated wow and flutter figures (±0.05% at 33 rpm, ±0.04% at 45 rpm) and speed drift reflect particularly steady rotation.
The 10-inch Musical Fidelity tonearm, designed for very low resonance, features a clear acrylic bearing housing and a tapered aluminium tube. Fully adjustable for VTA and azimuth, it comes with two TPE-damped counterweights allowing the use of cartridges from 6 to 20 g. Four heavy aluminium feet, TPE-damped with magnetic support, connect the two acrylic plinths, which are separated by Teflon spacers, and are height-adjustable for levelling the platter.

What to check before buying used
The silicone belt connecting the motor to the platter warrants a check for wear and tension, as its condition directly affects the stated speed stability.
