Description
The Nu-Vista 600.2 is a dual mono stereo integrated amplifier of entirely analogue design, with no digital streaming module or WiFi connection. It combines a transistor output stage derived from the TITAN power amplifier with a nuvistor valve preamplification stage operating in class A, a miniature valve technology that is now rare.
Its output power reaches 2x160 W into 8 Ohms and 2x300 W into 4 Ohms, allowing it to drive speakers that are demanding in terms of impedance. Harmonic distortion is quoted as below 0.005% and the signal-to-noise ratio above 107 dB A-weighted, two figures that reflect a clean and low-noise sound reproduction. Frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 30 kHz. The power supply relies on large toroidal transformers and a multi-rail power section, with separate filtering for the preamp and power stages, and the output stage benefits from local decoupling.
The volume control is laser-trimmed, a technique carried over from the Nu-Vista 800.2 model, as is the circuit board layout, revised compared with the previous Nu-Vista 600. Connectivity includes 4 RCA inputs, 2 balanced XLR inputs, a fixed RCA line output and a preamp RCA output dedicated to bi-amping.
The mechanical construction uses a front panel and side panels machined from an extruded aluminium profile, for a total mass of 36 kg and dimensions of 483 x 187 x 510 mm. This massive casing acts as a Faraday cage, protecting both the internal circuits from external electromagnetic fields and the rest of the system from the unit's own radiation. The fascia is fitted with VU meters.
This type of amplifier is aimed at a hi-fi enthusiast seeking an entirely analogue system, free of connected functions, and drawn to the particular sound of nuvistor valves combined with substantial transistor power. Its mass and power make it suited to speakers with low impedance or high current demands, in a system where the amplifier takes centre stage, including visually thanks to its VU meter display.

What to check before buying used
The laser-trimmed volume potentiometer should be tested throughout its full range to rule out any crackling or channel imbalance. The nuvistor preamplification stage deserves particular attention: as these miniature valves are rare and non-standard, it is advisable to check their condition and availability in case of future replacement. The large toroidal transformers and filter capacitors, stressed by the high power output delivered into low impedance, should show no hum or abnormal heating when listening.
