Description
The NAD C658 is a network preamplifier that combines a network player, a digital-to-analogue converter and the main functions of a traditional preamplifier in a single unit. This combination allows several separate components, streamer, DAC and preamplifier, to be replaced by a single central unit within a stereo system.
Its distinctive feature lies in NAD's Modular Design construction, which allows internal modules to be added or replaced to keep pace with developments in audio and video technology. An optional HDMI 4K switching module is available, allowing the sound from several HDMI sources such as games consoles or digital boxes to be processed. The C658 also features a Bluetooth aptX HD transmitter, useful for streaming sound to compatible wireless headphones or speakers.
In terms of connectivity, the unit offers unbalanced outputs designed to drive amplifiers and subwoofers, with a digitally processed adjustable subwoofer filter. An MM phono input is built in for turntables fitted with this type of cartridge, complemented by conventional line inputs for connecting existing analogue sources.
