Description
The NAD CI-720 v2 is a stereo zone amplifier designed to integrate an additional room into a networked audio system. It provides access to local music libraries, Internet radio and the main streaming services, whilst interfacing with third-party control systems such as Crestron, Control4, RTI or URC.
Its output of 2x60 Watts RMS relies on HybridDigital amplification technology, which drives the speakers with precision. The unit runs on BluOS, allowing 24-bit high-resolution music streaming and control via a mobile application or the BluOS ecosystem's touchscreen. The inclusion of AirPlay 2 also makes it easier to use within an Apple environment. Its compact, so-called "blade" format allows up to six CI-720 v2 units to be installed in a single 3U rack space using a dedicated accessory, whilst thermostatic fan cooling and an energy-efficient design enhance its reliability during continuous operation.
This model is aimed at custom multi-room audio installations, where several zones need to be powered and controlled centrally from a technical rack. It is particularly suited to home automation setups incorporating professional control systems or multiroom streaming ecosystems such as BluOS and Bluesound.

What to check before buying used
On a zone amplifier intended for continuous rack use, it is worth checking that the thermostatic cooling fan is working properly, as it can become clogged or noisy after several years of use. Checking the BluOS firmware update status and network recognition (Ethernet, AirPlay 2) also helps ensure that the streaming functions respond correctly. The speaker connectors and power supply warrant a visual inspection, particularly if the unit comes from a professional rack-mounted installation.
