What to check before buying used
The generous 10 mm² cross-section makes it necessary to check the condition of the ends: clean stripping, non-oxidised strands and no broken wires that would reduce the effective contact surface. The flexible sheath should be inspected along its entire length for marked creases, cracks or crushing marks, especially if the cable has run under furniture or a skirting board for a long time. If banana plugs or spade connectors have been crimped on by a previous owner, check their mechanical retention and that there is no play in the connector.
