Description
The 1080 Bi Tech 4 is a speaker cable from Oehlbach, designed specifically for bi-wiring. This configuration allows the bass terminals and mid-treble terminals of a compatible speaker to be connected separately, with each section of the cable dedicated to a frequency range.
The cable combines two 2.5 mm² pure silver-plated OFC copper conductors, reserved for the midrange and treble, with two 4 mm² pure OFC copper conductors intended for bass transmission. This distribution aims to limit signal losses across the entire sound spectrum, particularly at low frequencies where the more generous cross-section makes it easier for current to pass. The outer diameter of the cable is 11.5 mm.
The materials used for the conductor and insulation are said to provide great flexibility, making the cable easier to handle and route during installation, particularly in configurations where several pairs of wires need to be laid side by side up to the speakers.
This cable is intended for users with speakers fitted with bi-wiring terminals who wish to make use of this option to separate the bass signal path from the mid-treble path, in a carefully assembled stereo or home cinema system.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, you should check the condition of the conductors at the ends, the absence of visible oxidation on the silver-plated copper, and the integrity of the insulating sheath along its entire length, particularly at bending points or where it passes under furniture, as the insulation can wear prematurely there.
