Description
The Oehlbach 1388 XXL Series 80 cable is an optical cable designed for transmitting digital audio signals between devices fitted with a Toslink output or input. It allows players, televisions, amplifiers or consoles to be connected to an audio system while maintaining a purely optical link, without intermediate electrical conversion.
Its distinguishing feature lies in its patented internal structure, made up of 217 individual optical fibres. This construction aims to improve the brightness of the transmitted signal and allows a data transmission rate of 125 Mbps. To put this figure into perspective, the standard used for the transmission of multichannel sound formats requires only 12 Mbps, leaving a comfortable margin for demanding digital streams.
The cable is terminated with angled Toslink plugs made of solid metal, rather than the plastic tips usually found on this type of connector. This metal design aims to provide better long-term mechanical durability for the connectors.
