Description
The Oehlbach 3005 banana plug is a connector designed for connecting speaker cables to speaker terminals. It is fitted by soldering or crimping, and includes an additional lug allowing for bi-wiring.
Its fully round and smooth shape, combined with flat edges, ensures full contact with the speaker terminal. This type of contact differs from that obtained with a cable simply screwed onto the terminal, which only establishes partial contact. The maximum speaker cable cross-section accepted is 4 mm².
For a standard stereo installation, 8 plugs are required for mono wiring, and 16 plugs if bi-wiring is chosen, the preferred solution for making full use of this model's contact capabilities. In a Home Cinema configuration, requirements range from 20 plugs for mono wiring up to 40 plugs when all speakers are bi-wired.
