Description

The Oehlbach BTT 5000 is a compact Bluetooth transmitter designed to add a wireless streaming function to a classic Hi-Fi system. It is a transmitter, not a receiver: it sends the audio signal from a source to a Bluetooth-compatible device, such as wireless speakers or headphones, as an addition to an existing setup.

The unit connects via a supplied 3.5 mm jack cable, allowing it to be plugged into any device with a compatible audio output. It features aptX technology, which aims for signal transmission close to CD quality, a point that matters to Hi-Fi enthusiasts who are demanding about wireless sound reproduction. Its dual pairing function also allows a simultaneous connection to be established with two Bluetooth devices, a useful flexibility for sharing listening or switching between two devices without reconfiguring pairing.

This transmitter is primarily aimed at owners of a quality Hi-Fi system who do not natively have Bluetooth and who wish to incorporate modern sources without replacing their equipment. It also suits those who want to stream sound to headphones or wireless speakers while keeping their original wired setup.

What to check before buying used

The 3.5 mm jack connector and its cable deserve careful checking: a poor contact or a damaged cable can cause dropouts or a muted channel. Also test Bluetooth pairing with two different devices to confirm that the dual pairing function still works correctly, and check the signal range as well as the stability of the aptX connection over time. Finally, an inspection of the casing and control buttons rules out any wear defects linked to prolonged use.
