Description
The Powersocket 908 from Oehlbach is a mains power distribution unit designed to distribute and protect the electrical supply of an audio or video installation. It offers eight earthed outlets, four of which are filtered, allowing sensitive equipment to be separated from other devices that may cause more electrical interference.
The aluminium housing contains internal OFC copper wiring with 3.3 mm² conductors, complemented by 24-carat gold-plated contacts on each outlet. The external power cable, also in OFC copper with 1.5 mm² conductors and a length of 1.5 m, connects via an IEC connector. A main switch allows the entire installation to be switched off, while an LED on each outlet indicates the presence of a correct phase. The unit also incorporates surge protection, with a dedicated indicator showing whether this protection is active.

What to check before buying used
Check that all eight outlets and the four filtered channels maintain a firm contact despite the gold-plated contacts, and test that each phase LED lights up along with the surge protection indicator, which may have tripped or lost its effectiveness after a power spike. Examine the removable power cable and its IEC connector, as well as the main switch, to rule out any looseness or poor contact.
