The TX-NR6100 is an AV receiver from Onkyo, designed to form the heart of a home cinema setup. It handles both the amplification of the surround system's speakers and the video pass-through to the screen, managing multichannel soundtrack decoding and audio distribution across multiple rooms.
It delivers a power output of 175 W per channel at 6 ohms at 1 kHz (10% THD), or 165 W at a stricter 1% distortion rate, with supported impedances ranging from 4 to 16 ohms, allowing it to suit different types of speakers. The 106 dB signal-to-noise ratio and a THD+N kept to 0.08% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz demonstrate clean reproduction, while the frequency response extends from 10 Hz to 100 kHz. On the video side, the unit passes through video up to UHD 8K/60p and 4K/120i·s via its HDMI 2.1 inputs and outputs, with support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG, as well as ALLM, VRR and QFT gaming functions. Decoding includes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, as well as Dolby and DTS upmixing and virtualisation solutions to create a spatial rendering even without a full height speaker configuration.

What to check before buying used
On this type of AV receiver, systematically test each HDMI 2.1 and 2.0 input as well as both outputs, as these are the most heavily used circuits and the first to show signs of weakness (no signal, flickering HDR, resolution automatically switching back). Also check that the AM/FM tuner, USB ports, AccuEQ calibration microphone input and two-way Bluetooth module are working properly.
