The TX-NR7100 is an audio-video receiver from Onkyo, designed to drive a multichannel home cinema installation. It combines amplification, surround sound format decoding and HDMI video management within a single unit, with the ability to power several separate listening zones.
The stated power output reaches 170 W per channel at 6 Ω at 1 kHz (1% distortion), with a total harmonic distortion of 0.08% measured across the full 20 Hz-20 kHz band at half power, an indicator of linearity across the entire audible spectrum. In terms of connectivity, the MM phono input offers a sensitivity of 3.5 mV rms for an impedance of 47 kΩ, allowing a turntable fitted with a moving magnet cartridge to be connected directly without an external preamplifier. What to check before buying used
On a receiver of this generation, it is best to check that all HDMI channels (inputs and outputs) are working properly, as well as HDCP recognition with a recent television or projector, as some units have experienced compatibility issues after firmware updates.
