Optoma EH415
Full HD Optoma projector with vertical lens shift, DLP Link 3D compatible and network controllable, designed for professional installation.
Description
The Optoma EH415 is a Full HD projector intended for fixed installation, whether in a professional environment or a dedicated projection room. Its Full HD resolution and vertical lens shift make it easier to position the unit relative to the screen, without requiring perfect alignment between the lens and the projection surface.
The unit relies on DLP technology, which enables it to reach a frequency of 120Hz. This display speed makes it possible to broadcast full-screen stereoscopic 3D content: the video signal is split into two separate streams, one per eye, then synchronised using DLP Link technology with compatible 3D glasses. The brain then reconstructs the two streams to produce an image with depth.
Remote control via network is another notable feature of this model: the EH415 supports several control protocols, including Crestron RoomView, Telnet, Extron IP Link, AMX dynamic device discovery and PJ-Link. This multiple compatibility allows integration into centralised management systems, typical of installations in meeting rooms, schools or auditoriums.
In terms of consumption, the EH415 features Eco+ technology, a standby mode rated at less than 0.5 W, as well as an automatic shutdown function. These elements aim to limit power consumption during periods of inactivity, a valuable point for a unit intended for prolonged use or permanent installation.
This projector is aimed primarily at organisations looking for a versatile unit, capable of being integrated into an existing network control system, and able to occasionally broadcast 3D content. It is suitable for classrooms, conference spaces or semi-permanent installations where positioning flexibility and remote control are sought after.
What to check before buying used
The number of hours the lamp has been used is worth checking, as its replacement represents a significant cost on this model. The optical block should be examined for any traces of dust, marks or dead pixels on the projected image. The air filter, if fitted on this reference, is also a point to check, as is the proper functioning of the vertical lens shift, which can seize up over time. Finally, the various inputs and network control protocols (Crestron, PJ-Link, AMX) should be tested to ensure they are working correctly.
