Optoma HD91
Optoma HD91 Full HD projector with LED technology, no lamp replacement needed, for a stable image over time.
Description
The HD91 is a Full HD projector from Optoma, built around a three-LED light source rather than a traditional lamp. This technical choice changes the way the unit ages and is used on a daily basis.
Its native resolution is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels. It can display an image up to 3.32 metres wide, i.e. a 150-inch diagonal, with a throw distance of less than 5 metres, allowing for large screens even in rooms that are not vast. The unit also incorporates dedicated video processing: PureMotion4 for movement smoothness and UltraDetail for image precision. It is also certified 3D Full HD, a function that can be activated with the optional Optoma ZF2100 kit, sold separately.
LED technology changes things compared with a conventional lamp: no warm-up time at start-up, and above all brightness and colour rendering that remain stable over time, without the gradual decline typical of traditional lamps. This also removes the need for lamp replacement, a recurring maintenance item on conventional projectors.
This projector is aimed at those looking for a long-lasting home cinema setup, without the costs and maintenance associated with lamp changes, and who want a large-format image that stays stable over time. The Full HD format and 3D certification make it a relevant choice for cinema or series viewing in a lounge or dedicated room.
What to check before buying used
The three-LED light engine avoids the need for lamp replacement, but it is worth checking the uniformity of brightness across the whole image surface and the absence of spots or a colour cast that would indicate an ageing module. The fans should be tested at start-up to detect any abnormal fan noise, often a sign of internal dust build-up. A fixed image point or dead pixel on the LCD/DLP panel is more easily spotted against a plain light background.
