Ortofon 2M 78
Description
The 2M 78 features an advanced generator ensuring highly accurate sound reproduction. Its tip is fitted with a spherical diamond, suited to playing 78 rpm shellac records, which require a wider stylus profile than usual. The cartridge body, made from Hopelex, provides optimal rigidity and eliminates unwanted resonances.
Its strapped output circulates an identical signal on both sets of pole pins, making dedicated mono playback equipment unnecessary: this cartridge allows genuine mono listening on any stereo turntable. More broadly, the 2M series stands out for its versatility, compatible with a wide range of playback systems and numerous phono preamplifiers.
