What to check before buying used
The moving coil and its suspension wire do not withstand impacts well: check that the stylus holder has not been straightened after a fall and that the cantilever remains perfectly aligned within the cartridge body. The stylus, a fine diamond mounted in Replicant 100, wears with playing hours: ask for the number of hours or records played, and examine it under a loupe for signs of a flat spot. Finally, check the condition of the output wires and connection tags, as well as the presence of the original protective cap.
