Description
The Cadenza Bronze is a cartridge with a conical aluminium cantilever, designed by Ortofon to equip high-end turntables. It belongs to the range of cartridges intended for carefully assembled playback systems, where the signal retrieved from the groove must be reproduced with minimal loss of information.
This cartridge is fitted with a Replicant 100 stylus, mounted on a conical aluminium cantilever. The coil uses Ortofon's Aucorum technology, made from gold-plated 6NX copper wire, a material choice intended to limit losses in the transmission of the electrical signal generated by the cartridge. The FSE (Field Stabilizing Element) device acts on stabilising the magnetic field, with the aim of maintaining linear response even during musically complex, highly dynamic passages.
This type of cartridge is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts who already own a quality turntable and tonearm, as well as a phono preamplifier capable of making the most of its qualities. It suits demanding use, where playback precision and stereo imaging are paramount.

What to check before buying used
The suspension of the conical aluminium cantilever can stiffen or loosen over time, affecting the alignment of the Replicant 100 stylus and therefore tracking in the groove. Check for signs of impact on the cartridge body and the visual condition of the stylus, which is hard to judge without a stereo microscope but can reveal wear or damage. The Aucorum 6NX copper coil should show intact solder joints and connections, with no oxidation or bare wire, otherwise this may lead to imbalance or loss of a channel.
