The Magnepan LRS+ belongs to the family of planar speakers, a design radically different from traditional cone-and-cabinet speakers. Here, sound is generated by the movement of an ultra-light film combined with Quasi-Ribbon technology, a variant of the ribbon principle that drives the entire Magnepan range. This flat-panel operation, rather than drivers mounted in a sealed enclosure, fundamentally changes the way sound is projected into the room.
As the moving mass is extremely low, the film responds with great speed to variations in the electrical signal delivered by the amplifier.
