Description
The Premier 620C v2 is a three-way centre channel speaker from Paradigm, intended to carry the voice in a home cinema system. Its function is to reproduce dialogue and central effects from the audio channel, a strategic role in a multichannel configuration where vocal clarity governs much of the listening comfort.
It is built around a configuration of four active drivers complemented by two passive radiators. It features two 18 cm Carbon-X woofers with ART suspension, a 15 cm AL-MAG cone midrange driver paired with a perforated PPA lens, and a 25 mm aluminium-magnesium-ceramic dome tweeter mounted in a coaxial position with an OSW waveguide. The two 18 cm Carbon-X passive radiators reinforce bass extension without resorting to a port, which preserves the advantages of a sealed enclosure while gaining depth in the low end.
The frequency response spans from 49 Hz to 23 kHz at -3 dB on-axis, with bass extension measured at 33 Hz to the DIN standard. Sensitivity reaches 93 dB in a typical room and 90 dB in an anechoic chamber, which makes driving it easier with a moderately powered amplifier: Paradigm recommends a range of 15 to 180 W at a nominal impedance of 8 ohms.
This centre channel is aimed at generously sized home cinema installations, where it complements a pair of main speakers to structure the soundstage around dialogue and central effects. Its dimensions of 22.6 x 104.1 x 34.8 cm and weight of 21.8 kg make it a model intended for a cabinet or dedicated stand rather than placement on a simple shelf; an optional floor stand is available for this model.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the suspensions on both woofers and the two Carbon-X passive radiators, which can stiffen or crack over time and with exposure to heat. Checking the perforated PPA lens in front of the midrange and the dome of the AL-MAC tweeter is also recommended, as these components are exposed and sensitive to impact. A test at moderate volume across the full frequency range will help detect any unwanted noise or imbalance between the drivers.
