Pierre Etienne Leon Caprice

The Caprice is a floorstanding speaker designed by Pierre Etienne Leon, intended for demanding hi-fi listening in the living room. It fits into a stereo system and stands out for its cherrywood finish, designed to sit lastingly within an interior.

This floorstanding speaker relies on Cross-Flow acoustic loading, a principle used across several of the brand's models, combined with a proprietary technology called Point Majeur. The tweeter uses a non-resonant diaphragm made of impregnated fibre and silk, coupled with a suspension whose shape and dimensions promote high acoustic pressure in the upper part of the spectrum. The 18 cm midrange/woofer drivers, meanwhile, feature a woven polypropylene/carbon diaphragm. The driver layout, known as symmetrical phase control, aims to build a precise and stable stereo image.

With a stated frequency response of 30 Hz to 28 kHz, a sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83 V/1 m) and an impedance of 4 ohms, the Caprice is compatible with a wide range of amplifiers, whether transistor, valve or digital amplification. Its nominal power of 130 W allows it to be paired with electronics of moderate to comfortable power.

Its dimensions (H 124 x D 37.5 x W 21 cm) and weight of 38 kg make it an imposing speaker, suited to medium to large listening rooms, where it can fully develop its bass.
