Description
The Bardo is a turntable from German manufacturer Brinkmann Audio, built around the magnetic motor and platter of the Oasis turntable, with an acrylic-surfaced platter. It represents an entry point into the Brinkmann range, with the option of being fitted with components borrowed from the brand's higher-end models.
The standard model is supplied with a compact power supply in a metal housing. It can be ordered with three upgrade levels: the first replaces this power supply with the metal-housed unit used on the Balance and LaGrange turntables, improving bass definition and soundstage; the second replaces the black acrylic platter mat with a glass mat paired with a record clamp, for greater dynamic resolution; the third combines the previous two, bringing the Bardo closer to the performance of the brand's high-end turntables in terms of bandwidth and dynamic resolution.
The tonearm base is pivoting and can be fixed without play, allowing precise adjustment for tonearms between 9 and 10.5 inches. The drilling of this base is custom-made according to the tonearm chosen by the customer. The outputs, located at the rear of the turntable, can be fitted with RCA or XLR connectors, and the turntable also accepts tonearms fitted with DIN connectors or fixed cables. The two rotation speeds, 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, are selected via a front-panel switch and can be finely adjusted using two screwdriver-accessible settings located near the selector.
