Description
The PMC Fact.3 is a compact two-way bookshelf speaker, fitted with the brand's own ATL (Advanced Transmission Line) technology. It forms part of the Fact range alongside the Fact.8, drawing on the design principles of the latter in a reduced format intended for installations where floor space is limited.
The speaker features two 140 mm woofers as well as a 19 mm SONOMEX soft dome tweeter, ferrofluid-cooled and mounted on a wide 34 mm surround. The ATL transmission line, with an effective length of 1.7 m, allows low frequencies to be reproduced with precision despite the compact size of the cabinet. The crossover frequency is set at 1.7 kHz, and the frequency response extends from 35 Hz to 30 kHz. The speaker also offers individual adjustments for the low and high frequency response, allowing the sound to be tailored to the room's acoustics. With a sensitivity of 89 dB (1 W at 1 m) and an impedance of 8 ohms, it remains compatible with a wide range of amplifiers.
This model is aimed at listeners with limited floor space who nonetheless wish to maintain a high standard of sound quality, in small to medium-sized rooms. The Bass Reflex loading with transmission line makes it a speaker suited to relaxed listening, with good versatility across a range of associated sources.

What to check before buying used
When buying a used PMC Fact.3, it is worth checking the condition of the woofer surrounds, which can harden or crack over time, as well as the integrity of the SONOMEX tweeter dome, which is sensitive to impact. A check of the seal on the Bass Reflex cabinet and the port is also recommended, as the ATL transmission line requires good mechanical integrity of the cabinet to retain its low-frequency performance. The finish and the absence of any traces of moisture are also worth examining, as these speakers are often placed close to the floor.
