The Prodigy1 is a bookshelf-type speaker, designed for installation on a stand or shelf. It belongs to PMC's Prodigy range, conceived to offer high-resolution listening in a compact format, suited to small and medium-sized rooms.
This speaker incorporates PMC's proprietary ATL (Advanced Transmission Line) technology, with an effective length of 1.91 m folded within the cabinet. This principle allows bass reproduction to extend well beyond what the cabinet's size might suggest, with a stated frequency response of 50 Hz to 25 kHz (-3 dB). It pairs a 5.25-inch soft dome woofer/midrange in long-throw natural fibre LT with a 27 mm tweeter. Its impedance of 6 ohms and sensitivity of 87.5 dB SPL (1W/1m) suit amplifiers from 20 to 250 W, with a maximum SPL of 123 dB.

What to check before buying used
On this ATL transmission line model, check for any distortion or cracking around the duct and ports, as a loss of airtightness noticeably affects bass reproduction. Also check the condition of the natural fibre woofer/midrange dome and the tweeter, which are prone to knocks and denting. The 4 mm connection terminals are worth testing for tightness, to ensure they have not been forced through repeated connections over time.
