Description
The Prophecy 5 is a 2-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker from PMC, designed in a slim, compact format that takes up barely more space than a bookshelf speaker on a stand. Bass is handled by a 5-inch (125 mm) woofer with an LTXL mineral cone, mounted on a die-cast alloy chassis, paired with Advanced Transmission Line-type enclosures. What to check before buying used
The LTXL mineral cone and its die-cast chassis are mainly vulnerable to frontal impacts: check for any crack or dent, particularly near the surround. Also check the tweeter dome, which can be damaged by careless finger pressure, and the condition of the Advanced Transmission Line ports, which must not be obstructed. Finally, examine the cabinet along the full height of this slim floorstander, as well as the binding posts, to rule out any looseness or oxidation.
