The Twenty5.22i is a 2-way bookshelf speaker from the PMC range, designed to equip larger rooms than the Twenty5.21 model from the same series. It sits on dedicated floor stands, reference Twenty5 2122, or on any furniture or flat surface suited to its size.
The central technical feature of this speaker is the 2-metre ATL quarter-wave line housed in a cabinet with nonetheless compact dimensions. This long acoustic transmission line, combined with a 17 cm woofer/midrange driver with an aluminium chassis and a Laminair port, aims to produce a defined and controlled bass despite the speaker's compact size. The 19 mm tweeter with Sonoflex diaphragm and ferro-fluid completes the set to reproduce the treble. The crossover frequency is set at 1.8 kHz, and the stated frequency response ranges from 39 Hz to 25 kHz. What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 17 cm woofer's suspension: excessive softness or cracking indicates ageing that affects bass performance. Also inspect the Sonoflex tweeter, which is prone to dents and fingerprints, as well as the internal ATL duct, where clogging or a seal leak degrades the stated definition. Finally, examine the cabinet and Laminair ports for any swelling, veneer lifting or impact damage to the edges.
