The Twenty5.24i is a 2-way floorstanding speaker from PMC, positioned as the largest model in its range within the two-way configuration. It combines a bass-mid driver and a tweeter within a bass-reflex enclosure, designed to deliver a precise and coherent sound image in medium to large rooms.
The technical heart of this speaker lies in the Advanced Transmission Line (ATL), a bass-loading principle specific to PMC. Unlike a conventional bass-reflex enclosure or a sealed cabinet, this acoustic line, 3 metres long and folded within the cabinet, harnesses the rear energy of the bass-mid driver instead of dissipating it, contributing to extended and controlled bass reproduction. The speaker thus extends down to 27 Hz and up to 25 kHz, with a crossover frequency between the two drive units set at 1.8 kHz.
The 17 cm aluminium-chassis bass-mid driver works in tandem with a 19 cm SONOFLEX diaphragm ferro-fluid-cooled tweeter, with the whole system compatible with bi-amplification. The sensitivity of 89 dB / 1 W / 1 m and the nominal impedance of 8 ohms allow pairing with amplifiers delivering between 30 W and 200 W, for a power handling of 100 W. The Laminair port also helps manage airflow within the bass-reflex duct.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 17 cm bass-mid driver's suspension: sagging or tearing of the surround permanently affects the bass reproduction delivered by the ATL transmission line. Also examine the tweeter's SONOFLEX diaphragm, which is prone to denting and to oxidation of the ferro-fluid. Inspect the cabinetry and the ports of the long folded duct for cracks or veneer lifting, and test each speaker separately to identify any sensitivity imbalance between the two units.
