The Perreaux Audiant DP32 is a digital-to-analogue preamplifier that combines a 32-bit D/A conversion function with a fully balanced analogue circuit. It is positioned as the heart of a digital hi-fi system, tasked with converting and shaping the signal before it is sent to a power amplifier.

What to check before buying used
The 32-bit conversion circuit and balanced analogue stage are sensitive to loose connections: test all inputs, particularly the AES/EBU link in XLR and the asynchronous USB port, with several bitrates up to 24-bit/192kHz. Listen at low volume to detect any hiss, channel imbalance or abnormal distortion, a sign of ageing analogue components. Also check that the digital signal lock remains stable without dropouts or crackling when switching sources.
