The ProAc Studio 115 is a bookshelf speaker belonging to the Studio range from British manufacturer ProAc. It is positioned as an evolution of the Studio 110, whose design it takes up and optimises.
On the technical side, the Studio 115 inherits the midrange-bass driver used on the Studio 140 MK2. This design choice places the 115 in line with the higher-end models of the range for the reproduction of midrange and bass frequencies. In addition, its cabinet was designed narrower than that of the Studio 110, an approach intended to limit baffle diffraction effects, that is, the sonic disturbances caused by the edges of the speaker's front panel.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the surrounds on the midrange-bass driver inherited from the Studio 140 MK2: sagging or hardening of the material results in a dull sound or distortion at high volume. Also examine the cabinetwork and veneer of the narrow cabinet, which is more prone to damage on the edges, as well as the flatness of the baffle, which governs the diffraction control this design aims for. Checking the rear connectors and the absence of play in the terminal block is also worthwhile.
